Maude

Maude is the happiest, clumsiest, goofiest, messiest, most lovable dog!

I adopted Maude in April of 2021. I knew the person fostering her, and followed her story. She was found as a stray, in shocking condition, with half of her face missing, horrible ear infections, they eventually removed a mass that was cancerous. They actually thought she might be deaf when they rescued her. She had lots of old scars from what seemed to be from dogs. Animal Heartline was dedicated to doing what it took to get her healthy. Even with everything stacked against her, she was still the happiest dog that just wanted to be around people. I wanted another dog that potentially could be a therapy dog. She had ABSOLUTELY no manners whatsoever. But she was so happy! I would bring her to my house to meet Roscoe for a couple hours, and then I took her for a full day, and then an overnight, and I realized she was going to be a good fit for a Roscoe. I was fortunate to be able to do it that way, because I knew the foster. Maude’s biggest challenge was impulse control. If she wanted to do it she was going to do it, if she wanted to eat it, it was hers to eat, if she wanted to go outside, she was going to bust through the door to get outside. Thankfully she is obsessed with food which definitely has helped in her training. Her favorite thing to do is eat! She also loves her walks at the park, she loves to do anything as long as people are involved. She fortunately loves other dogs. She has been a big help in working with reactive dogs. If we need to test a dog to see if the dog is dog friendly, Maude is my go to. She loves her brother Roscoe, they cuddle, they play, they are wonderful companions. Maude is pretty mellow in the house. She is a great cuddle bug, and usually will just be found sleeping unless she hears the wrinkle of a food wrapper in which case she bolts into the kitchen. We are still working on training as Maude is a work in progress. She knows sit, down, stay, paw, and spin. She loves to get on the couch and throw the pillows around and dig, because the couch isn't comfortable enough as it is. But she has to make it just right for her. Most of the time the pillows are found off the couch completely on the floor and she's laying on top of the back couch cushion. She would love to sleep on the bed every night but she snores, so usually she'll be found curled up on a dog bed with Roscoe. Maude has earned a few nicknames in our time together…Naughty Maudey, Mad dog, Muddy. There is not a day that goes by that Maude does not make me laugh multiple times a day. She truly is the happiest, clumsiest, goofiest, messiest, loveable dog. I am looking forward to her sharing her happiness with others.
