Pita, the dancing Chihuahua, was rescued from the streets of Torreon, Coahuila, Mexico at seven weeks old.

Hello! My name is Pita Trevino-Garcia (kinda a long name for a small 8 pound deer Chihuahua)! I have a brother named Paco who is also a Chihuahua. My brother and I are inseparable. My Poppa, Jorge, rescued me from the streets of Torreon, Coahuila, Mexico when I was seven weeks old. My Poppa and I traveled by bus back to Chicago. My Momma, Linda, fell in love with me when she saw me! I have a very busy schedule. I work and go to school, just like my Momma. I take classes at Petsmart with an awesome trainer named Pam. I also ‘work’ at MacNeal Hospital in the Behavioral Health Services Department and the hospice unit. This is the best job ever! The therapist I work with is really nice and the staff always has special chicken treats for me. My job is easy. I get to meet new people who pet me and give me treats! Most recently I added another shift to my schedule at the hospital where I visit patients in hospice. I also work at Ronald McDonald’s House in Oak Lawn. The kids love seeing me in my Ronald McDonald uniform. I like to sit with the kids by the fireplace and read books. I am also a Certified Reading Dog Assistant with SitStayRead. This is a great program that helps kids practice their reading and writing skills while learning about dog safety. I also model for local pet designers. I’ve been in commercials, calendars, and newspapers. I love traveling, shopping, and playing with my brother Paco. I know how to sit, stay, and touch. I can also dance! My Momma taught me how to dance to Ricky Martin songs. She plays his music all the time. My favorite toy at home is my squeaky pink pig. And of course, I like to take my brother’s doggie stuffed toy away from him. I love bacon and anything freeze dried, like chicken, beef, and bison. We don’t get left home alone very often. When we are alone, my parents leave the TV on and we watch cartoons and sleep. Most of the time when my parents are not home, my brother and I are dropped off at Grandma and Grandpa’s house. We love being with our Grandparents.
