Keeper had a light that shined so bright. The police officers who found him fell in love with his spirit, so wonderfully forgiving and full of nothing but love. Keeper's owner was starving him and lived in a neighborhood known for dog fighting. He had scars all over his face, chest and legs. He had a rough life but didn't let it get him down. Keeper lived up to his name; he was a keeper.
And Keeper was a lover. The Safe Humane Chicago volunteers who worked with him recognized his loving and forgiving spirit and showed him the love and happiness he had so longed for. He was a wonderful social butterfly, who loved belly rubs, playing with humans and doggie friends, getting lots of treats and beyond anything else snuggling. Many of us loved him like our own.
Sadly, Keeper passed away in February. We are sad that Keeper left us too soon. But he will always be with us...in our hearts. Keeper demonstrated the power of forgiveness and love. He will be missed by everyone he touched with his amazing and generous spirit.
Run free Keeper, run free....
