Ruby is a female red nosed pit, aged 2 years old.

Distinguishing Characteristics

Adorable "worried look" on her face, white stripe down her forehead that can only be seen when she is not wrinkling her face in the worried look :) Looks very much like her two other red pittie pals in the program, Betsy and Rou!

Do you have any canine housemates?

YES! Three! A rat terrier big brother named Rocky who is also a SHC Ambassador, a younger Pittie brother named Louie who is a big guy and a little rat terrier sister named Ally who is only 10lbs but is the bossiest girl in the house. All are rescues.

How did you join your family?

Some good people at a car dealership in the suburbs saw me in a customer's car and he was not treating me very nicely. I not yet spayed and had clearly just had puppies. The employees at the dealership were so nice and they took me from the guy and saved me. They let me stay over until my good pal Joey from A Dog's Day Rescue and Chicagoland Bully Breed Rescue was able to take me in and introduce me to my parents Bobby and Tracey. It was love at first sight and I have been living the dream ever since!

Do you have any “jobs”? Tell us about them and what you like most about them.

Keeping the younger pups in line at home, working with the guys at IYC with the Lifetime Bonds Program which I LOVE! Being a mascot and my mom's assistant at Chicago Canine Concierge where I attend LOTS of pet friendly events and show people how awesome pit bulls are and flirting with all the people at fundraising events (I get a LOT of cash in my fundraising vest because I love to give kisses). I am also starting agility and nose work classes this year and I am super excited!

Do you have any “hobbies”?

I LOVE tennis balls. They are my favorite thing in the world. I love to play fetch and chase the ball.

Do you do any tricks? What is your favorite?

I must say I am an expert when it comes to catching fly tennis balls WAY up in the air and treats too. I would be a great baseball player if I could just catch balls in the outfield (then someone else would need to throw them back of course). I am a very quick learner so I have done a little agility with the jumps and really like that too.

What is your favorite toy?

Tennis balls.

What is your favorite treat?

Hmmm. That's a tough one. I sure do like treats. I would have to say raw bones and all the training treats the guys give me at IYC are my faves.

What do you like to do when your parents aren’t home?

Is there anything you would like to tell us about your work with Safe Humane Chicago or anything else?

It is the best thing I have ever done! I love working with the guys at IYC and am really looking forward to doing lots more fun events this year too! I love to learn new tricks and I am especially proud that I get to go out and show people what a great breed pit bulls are and how much of a lover I am!
