Punch is a Bloodhound.

Distinguishing Characteristics

XXXL ears, big sturdy feet, human-like eyes, nasal smelling capabilities of epic proportion, and a heart of gold.

Do you have any canine housemates?

A Black and Tan Coonhound brother named "Trout" who came from the same rescue group that I did.

He has some really naughty habits he's teaching me too!

How did you join your family?

There used to be another bloodhound living with my mom and Trout.

Her name was Birdie and she was a SHC Ambassador Dog too.

She died suddenly after a 6 month unknown illness.

My mom told me her heart was actually broken, into bits.

Mom knew there are so many dogs in trouble, nationwide, who needed a safe haven, so she picked up the pieces and started looking.

She contacted coonhound rescue and learned about a hound who was being returned to rescue because her owners were losing their house.

Enter me!

I'd been returned at least once before, maybe twice, for some unwelcome behaviors but my mom wasn't frightened off.

She decided to give me a chance, and viola! here I am 4 months later.

Do you have any “jobs”? Tell us about them and what you like most about them.

Went on an interview to become a SHC Ambassador Dog and got the job!

I'm super excited to get started.

I went to IYC once so far and batted my eyelashes at those boys. I loved them!

Do you have any “hobbies”?

My brother and I are SERIOUS semi-pro wrestlers.

I love love love wrestling with him.

Mom doesn't mind because we do it silently except for an occasional yelp when someone steps on another's ear.

I also love any kind of training...conquering new challenges makes me really happy and proud.

Do you do any tricks? What is your favorite?

I'm just learning everything, didn't know squat when I got here.

Now I can give paw, do an awesome leave it, and we're working on singing on command.

What is your favorite toy?

Ouuuu, if it squeaks, I WANT IT!!!!!!

What is your favorite treat?

Anything I can swallow.

What do you like to do when your parents aren’t home?

Shut eye.

Give me a soft, cushy platform,  I'll curl up,  sleep and snore in a way that would make

insomniacs extra jealous.

Is there anything you would like to tell us about your work with Safe Humane Chicago or anything else?

I can't wait to start!!!!

I'm from Alabama and there was nothing like this there.

I can't wait to show people the softer side of dogs. You know, we love you guys,  in a really exceptional

way. We don't judge, we forgive, and just open our hearts to share the wealth!

Hello SHC, here I come!!!
