HARVEY (NKA KWAMI) UPDATE - April 2021!

Court Case Dog Harvey, now known as Kwami, was fostered through Friends of Chicago Animal Care and Control by Anna in March 2015 and was officially adopted by her one year later. Anna first saw his picture on the CACC Transfer Team Facebook page and, with the help of some very special rescue friends, was able to transfer him from CACC.

Anna wasn’t aware Kwami was a Safe Humane Court Case Dog until she visited him at the shelter with her other pup Bunny to do a meet-and-greet. Learning he was a CCD just pushed her harder to foster him, help him tackle his fears and grow his confidence. She says, “He deserved to be a plain ole dog with no worries of the life he had in the past.”

Anna says it’s hard to choose one thing she loves most about Kwami, but if she had to, it would be his love for other dogs. Kwami goes to work with Anna every day (she’s the manager of Green Dog, Inc. daycare and boarding). Kwami shows patience with each dog he meets, no matter their behavior. Watching him “test” dogs that are newly rescued makes Anna’s heart swell with pride.

Kwami’s favorite activities are wrestling with his sister Bunny, snuggling and staring at the geese at Humboldt Park, and of course living it up at his second home, Green Dog.

Anna has worked on Kwami’s fear of strangers coming in the home and his separation anxiety, both of which have improved leaps and bounds, thanks to his BFF Bunny. Anna thinks that working on Kwami’s confidence has made their bond and love for each other just that much stronger.

I thank Safe Humane so much for giving these dogs the chance to live a life where they are loved and appreciated. Every dog is an individual, and each one has their own story. A Safe Humane dog’s life might not have started out the greatest, but that doesn’t mean they are damaged goods, and I thank Safe Humane every day for fighting for dogs like Kwami.”
