Do you have any canine housemates?

Yes, I have two other canine housemates: Scotch, a bully breed mix born in 2002 and Swindle, a blue American Pit Bull Terrier (and former SHC Court Case Dog) who was born around 2006. I also have a feline housemate named Vinny who is a tuxedo cat born in 2000.

How did you join your family?

A Chicago rescue organization (Chicagoland Bully Breed Rescue) pulled me out of a shelter in Quincy, Illinois. I was on the euthanasia list. I went to a foster home with lots of dogs and cats. Ultimately, my mom and dad picked me because I let Scotch push me around, I got along with Vinny and my prolife said I didn’t like sleeping in bet with my humans (they were wrong).

Do you have any “jobs”? Tell us about them and what you like most about them.

I have two jobs, working for Canine Therapy Corps and Safe Humane Chicago. In these two jobs, I have been in almost every situation you can imagine, but a typical week might consist of volunteering with adults or adolescents in substance abuse recovery on Mondays and going to IYC on Wednesdays. I also try to help out wherever I can when my mom is available. She’s taken me to lots of outreach events and police roll call trainings. My favorite part of my job is showing people that pit bulls are totally normal, typical dogs (and that we’re awesome).

Do you have any “hobbies”?

AGILITY!!!!!! Was that enthusiastic enough? While I love to work, kicking back with a good agility course is how I relax.

Do you do any tricks? What is your favorite?

I know a fair number of tricks, many of which were taught to me by my friends at IYC. Let’s see…shake/high-five/wave, bow, roll over, spread ‘em, stick ‘em up, spin, weave, and balance a treat on my nose. Either bow or stick ‘em up is my favorite. They’re crowd pleasers.

What is your favorite toy?

It’s definitely my black Kong…or maybe my rope tug.

What is your favorite treat?

String cheese!

What do you like to do when your parents aren’t home?

I sleep. Come to think of it, that’s what I do when they are home too. I’m a BIG fan of siesta. A couple of times a week I get to go to work with my mom. I am at work with her right now.

Is there anything you would like to tell us about your work with Safe Humane Chicago or anything else?

I am really excited to be part of this. Hopefully, people can see that pit bulls can be sweet, silly, fun dogs.
