Rou is a four year old American Pit Bull Terrier who is a rescue dog from Chicagoland Bully Breed rescue. He was adopted in 2007 by Callie Cozzolino and Louie Greenbaum who provide him a loving home in Chicago.
Rou’s sunny disposition and love for people makes him a perfect working dog, and he serves Safe Humane Chicago and other organizations as a dog ambassador. You can meet Rou at upcoming Safe Humane events, but before you do, learn more about Dog Ambassador Rou.
Do you have any brothers or sisters?
Scotch, a female pit bull mix is my bossy big sister. I worship her. She’s 7 years old. Vinny, is my cat brother. He is 8 ½ years old.
How did you join your family?
I came through the Chicagoland Bully Breed Rescue. They saved me from Quincy where I was scheduled to be put to sleep. I was adopted on April 17th, 2007.
Do you have any “jobs”? Tell us about them and what you like most about them.
I am a therapy dog with Canine Therapy Corps. I work with adults in substance abuse recovery and children with autism. I like the nice people and the treats!
Do you have any hobbies?
I LOVE to play tug-of-war with my dad and play tag with my sister. I also love to chew bones and sleep. Ooooh…I also like to go for runs.
Can you do any tricks? What is your favorite?
I can shake/high five and bow. I’m working on learning to rollover. My parents are trying to make me a lifetime learner.
What is your favorite toy?
It’s a tie between my King-size black Kong and my knotted rope toy.
What do you do when your parents aren’t home?
Sleep! But I’m very lucky. A couple days a week I get to go to work with my mom. I greet visitors and sleep.
Is there anything you would like to tell us about your work with Safe Humane Chicago or anything else?
We’re really excited to be a part of this. Hopefully, people can see that pit bulls can be sweet, silly, fun dogs.
