Dori

Uki Dori Inu (Japanese for Cheerful Street Dog) celebrates her birthday on 8/9/08 (the day she was adopted). She is a Standard Poodle : with the tightest and softest cream-colored curls, but is known for getting them dirty by wrestling with her sister in the yard. She is missing a canine tooth
She was kind enough to answer a few questions for us.
Do you have any brothers or sisters?
I have a sister named Sully who is 4 years older than me. She is 3/4 poodle and 1/4 Labrador.
How did you join your family?
I was homeless and living on the streets until the dog catcher found me. I was placed on Death Row at the pound, but lucky for me a group called Rescue Farm saved me. My mom was specifically looking for a therapy dog and the nice lady at the rescue said I was the perfect dog for the job.
Do you have any jobs? Tell us about them and what you like most about them.
I just started working with Safe Humane at Lindblom Math & Science Academy. I help the high school students teach elementary school students how to humanely treat dogs and how to be safe around dogs. My favorite part is showing off my tricks and then sniffing all of the kid's hands before they pet me.
Do you have any hobbies
I like to start my day with a good sniff in the flower garden until my mom tells me to get out! Then I usually wrestle with my sister making sure to roll in any muddy areas. If there is still time before my nap I also like to inspect all of the dirty laundry. I find its best to remove the stinkiest pieces from the basket and take them to the living room for a more thorough inspection.

Do you do any tricks?   What is your favorite?

I can say my prayers and go night night

What is your favorite toy?
I like toys that squeak, but my favorite is whichever toy my sister is playing with.

What do you like to do when your parents arent home?
Im hardly ever home alone because both my mom and my dad can take me to work. My mom works at a dog school so that is extra fun. If I do have to stay home I usually get a tasty treat like a bone or a peanut butter stuffed Kong to chew on in my crate and when Im done I take a nap.

Is there anything you would like to tell us about your work with Safe Humane Chicago or anything else?
I like working with the kids so much I wish every day was a Safe Humane day.
